Strawberry Avocado and Spinach Salad

ImageThis salad is an especially special one to serve for a romantic Valentines dinner.  I developed it with aphrodisiacs in mind, like avocado, strawberries and pine nuts.  The avocado’s texture is smooth and creamy, while tasting delicious.   Strawberries are often described in erotic text as ‘fruit nipples’ and, like grapes, are perfect for hand feeding and full of vitamins.  Pine nuts are rich in zinc, which is an essential mineral required to stimulate the male libido.

Aphrodisiac Strawberry Spinach Avocado Salad
Serves 2
The strawberries in this salad have “feel good” effects on whomever eats them. Enjoy some whole ones with your partner before slicing them up to put in the salad. The avocado has a rich, buttery and satisfying mouth feel; perfectly luscious.

Ingredients
  1. 1 pint organic strawberries
  2. 1/2 small avocado
  3. 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  4. 1 tablespoon champagne vinegar
  5. 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  6. 1 teaspoon honey
  7. ¼ tsp. Salt
  8. ⅛ tsp. Pepper
  9. 4 ounces spinach
  10. 1 tablespoon pine nuts
Instructions
  1. Wash the strawberries only just before making this salad. After washing, hull the strawberries, and slice each strawberry into about 4 or 5 slices. Set aside.
  2. Run your knife around the avocado, and split it open. With a tablespoon, scoop out the inside, and place on the cutting board. Slice thinly. Repeat with the other half. Set aside.
  3. To toast the sesame seeds, heat a small skillet over low heat, add the sesame seeds and toast them for about two minutes, or just until they begin to brown. Be careful not to burn them. Set aside.
  4. Make the dressing by whisking in a small bowl the honey, vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. Add the sesame seeds and whisk until all are combined.
  5. Place the spinach in a large bowl, and toss the dressing with the spinach, ensuring all the spinach leaves are well coated. Place a mound of this salad on 2 salad plates and garnish with the sliced strawberries and avocado. Sprinkle the pine nuts to top it off. Enjoy immediately.
